JOLOJ JOBA
Joloj Joba is a visual poetry series—a photographic interpretation of a poem. It is also the title of my first poetry book. The phrase means “a hibiscus floating on water.”
Through this series, I explore poetry through images, where the hibiscus becomes a symbol of a woman lying on water—floating between softness and sorrow, stillness and emotion.
The original poem reads:
“তোমার জন্য রক্তাক্ত হলে মনে হয় আমি জবা ফুল, টুকটুকে লাল হয়ে ফুটে আছি জলের বেদনায়।”
Translation:
“If I bleed for you, I feel like a hibiscus flower—bright red, blooming in the pain of water.”
