ABOUT SAIMUM SAEED
Saimum Saeed is a Toronto-based photographer, published poet, and emerging filmmaker whose work is driven by emotional depth, visual storytelling, and a poetic perspective on everyday life. A lifelong artist, he has been practicing photography since 2011 and is the owner of a photography studio in Scarborough, Toronto.
As a poet, Saimum published two poetry books in 2017 and 2019, exploring themes of human emotion, memory, nature, and belonging. His literary background continues to influence his visual work, giving his photographs a distinctive narrative and artistic quality.
Saimum studied Economics at Jahangirnagar University, where he led the university’s photography club and co-founded Him-utsob, one of Bangladesh’s largest art carnivals. During this period, he organized and participated in numerous artistic initiatives and held three solo photography exhibitions, establishing himself as an active voice in the country’s contemporary art scene.
Now based in Toronto, Saimum's work focuses on people, places, memory, and identity, often capturing quiet moments that reveal deeper human stories. He is particularly drawn to self-portraiture, using it as a medium to explore his personal journey, experiences, and evolving sense of belonging as an immigrant. His photographs have been published, exhibited, and recognized on national platforms. In 2025, he presented his first solo photography exhibition in Canada, marking an important milestone in his artistic career. He also founded and leads the Scarborough Photography Club, fostering a community of photographers through education, collaboration, photo walk, and creative exchange.
Through photography, poetry, and film, Saimum seeks to create work that is both visually compelling and emotionally resonant, inviting viewers to connect with the stories, emotions, and memories that shape our shared human experience.
